Head of Household status denied by TurboTax because my dependent is not related to me but I support more than half of his expenses.

My marital status is divorced.

Your dependent for HOH MUST be a close relative.  Unrelated persons do not quailfy.

The IRS qualified my dependent as a dependent even though not related. No where in the code does it specifically state that the dependent has to be a close relative for the Head of Household status.  This fact is missing from the TurboTax form.
