Have you had any luck figuring out 2023? 2022 was the first year I collected SS and Turbo Tax does not allow me to get to the input screen for my 1099-SSA. When I go to update that screen all I get is a white screen with no form. I was on the phone last night with Turbo Tax and we still do not have it fixed.
HI, did you ever get this fixed? I am having the same issue. I am also a first time recipient of SS. I even went back to my 2021 return to see if I could input SS as a test and I got the same blank screen. Thanks
@GLars that's a re-written section of code ( a few years ago) that always takes a long time to load the subroutine related to it.
The one thing I noted above.....is to make sure you have all your Windows OS updates installed fully....and re-boot your computer no matter whether or not you do have an OS update to install .
Then , after reboot, don't run any other programs...just the TTX one, and try again.
______
No, you shouldn't have to go thru all that if the software were rewritten well....but that's what is happening for the Desktop/download software users.
_________
Last Resort if the above doesn't work?
1) Switch to "Forms Mode"
2) in the top-left window, click on "Open Form"
3) in the search box type in "Social"
4) Click on the "Social Security Benefits Worksheet" and then the "Open Form" button.
Then you can enter your SSA-1099 data in the A-thru-E section, directly on the form....but Yeah, some of it may be confusing.
When I get the blank screen, I close the program and then right click on the TT icon on my desktop. Then I select the option to run as administrator. When I do that, the system operates normally. Hope that works for you!
Ohhh...yeah....the Run as Administrator problem.
That part can come up if the person fails to initially install the software as an Administrator.
I used to have those problems entering info until I quit downloading the Turbo Tax program from Intuit and started purchasing the actual disc program at Office Max. I have not had one problem since! Going on 5 years of filing this way. I think there are too many chances for files to get corrupted when downloading from Intuit and then the program doesn't function properly.
