Having trouble completing my 2019 taxes using the Turbotax Desktop 2019 software.

Last year I used Turbotax online to do my 2019 taxes but when I tried to efile both federal and state were rejected due to a discrepancy. I couldn't resolve the problem so I put off finishing my taxes, for personal reasons, which wasn't an issue because I was expecting a refund from both.

Now I want to finish them but can't do it online so I downloaded the tax file and opened it in the Turbotax Desktop 2019 software but can't figure out how to switch from e-file to mail so I can mail my taxes in.

Any help would be appreciated.

No, you're not amending since you never filed for 2019.  Is that correct?

If so, here are the instructions you need to use.  You'll need the 2019 TurboTax software (edition you were using when working on it online).  You can transfer your tax data file from Online into the 2019 software.  Then you'll complete your return there, print and sign it.  Prior-year returns cannot be e-filed.  They must be printed and mailed.

How do I finish a prior-year return that I started in TurboTax Online?

I "think" the information I'm linking below will help you out.  Please post back if you continue to have difficulty.

How do I print and mail a return in the TurboTax for Windows CD/Download software?

Thank you for your reply. I'm not using TurboTax for Windows CD I'm using TurboTax Amend 2019 which I downloaded from the TurboTax site after logging in with my account. I had prepared my taxes online in July so I figured the only way to finish them and mail them was to use TurboTax Amend.

TurboTax Amend does not have an option to "continue" my return as outlined in the link you supplied. I can print the forms or save them as a PDF but my state return says "do not mail this form to the FTB", I live in California. That's where I'm stuck. It looks like I can print and file the Federal Form but I don't know what to do with the state form.

Thank you.

Yes, I am not amending. I downloaded the amend software because all I really needed to do was change my address because I have moved since July.

Thank you so much, that link is exactly what I need. You wouldn't believe how many different ways I entered phrases into Google trying to find the info that I needed and you found it easily. I was hoping that I could do the address change in the amend software but now it seems I have to buy the Windows desktop software which is unfortunate since they charged me a hefty sum to do my taxes online.

Thanks again for your help.

@Dr_Morbius Oh, if you already paid for your online program when working on your 2019 return, you won't be required to pay for the downloaded software.  Please use the link I'm sharing below to contact TurboTax Customer Support during business hours.  A Support rep will assist you.

What is the TurboTax phone number?

So glad I could help.  Please let me know if I can assist in any other way.
