Going from a downloaded Turbo Tax Premier version to an online Turbo Tax Premier version.

Is there a way to go from starting a 2022 Tax return using a paid Turbo Tax Premier the downloaded version to using the online version of Turbo Tax Premier?

Can someone show me a link that explains the steps or can someone here explain it to me in plain English so I understand it?

Do you mean for the same tax year?  No.....you cannot switch from the CD/download to the online program.  You can do the opposite.  You can switch from using online to using the CD/download for the same tax year.  And why do you even want to do that?   The CD/download is much more flexible and easy to navigate, plus you can prepare and e-file up to five federal returns using the CD/download.   

Or ..... does your computer not meet the system requirements?  What is the problem you are having with using the CD/download?

How do I switch from TurboTax CD/Download to TurboTax Online?

Follow these instructions to switch from TurboTax Online to TurboTax CD/Download.

You can transfer your tax data file (with a filename extension .tax[year], such as .tax2020) only if you're switching a prior year return.

• You can't transfer your current year return
• You won't be able to transfer a PDF, it must be a tax data file with a filename extension .tax2020
• Remove any password protection from the data file before transferring. Follow these instructions

Here's how to transfer:

You have to use TurboTax Online on your computer to do this transfer (it won’t work from a mobile device).

1. Sign in to TurboTax Online and start a new return, or open or continue a return you already started
2. After the screen has loaded, select the Tax Tools dropdown menu in the left column, and then select Tools
3. In the pop-up window, select the Transfer last year's TurboTax return from your computer link (if you don’t see this option, you may need to clear and start over)

Follow the instructions to finish transferring your file. Once you're done, follow these instructions to return your CD/Download copy of TurboTax.
