If i enter 8485.00 in medical expenses why is the deduction & credit page showing over 96,000.00?

Check the amounts you entered for misplaced decimals, commas instead of decimals, or extra zeros

I have done that at least five times. It remains the same. I always have taken the standard deduction in the past. It wants me to do the itemized dedections.   I’m getting very frustrated so hopefully you can help me.

Why did it change the numbers?  I’m not at all confident in filing my taxes with Turbo Tax this year.

TurboTax does not change your entries.  If you have an amount over 10 times what you think you entered, then you have a decimal point error somewhere.  As SweetieJean also says, check your entries from your SSA1099 and other documents that may have had any healthcare related data--such as your 1095A or a 1099R.

Medical expenses also include any medical insurance premiums listed on an SSA-1099, 1099-R, 1095, etc form. So check those as well for misplaced commas or other typos.
