Hello!
I am trying to file both federal and state taxes, but I am getting a Last Name does not match Social Security Number on my filings. I live in South Carolina, but worked in Massachusetts over the summer and have tried filing both state taxes on the same return as well as federal. My summer job employer spelled my LAST name wrong on my first w2, so I had to request another one. On the second w2, my employer spelled my FIRST name wrong, so they had to correct it a second time and send me a third and final w2. This is my first time filing taxes and every time I submit my taxes, I am getting this error. I tried submitting under a w2c, but it rejected that as well. I don’t know what to do and the deadline is next week. I will be filing for an extension, but I need help figuring out why it keeps rejecting when my name is spelled correctly and I am using the correct social security number. I’ve already contacted my employer to confirm the information they have on file. If I get TurboTax deluxe or premier edition, will they be able to figure this out for me, so I don’t have to deal with it? If not, who do I contact for help?

Please see this Help Article on how to resolve a rejected return. An upgrade in software won't resolve this matter as this rejection is due to the information tied to what the company reported to the IRS. If you are unable to e-file, please see this Help Article which will assist you with filing by mail.
