Where are you seeing 03/31?

The TurboTax online editions were updated in the early evening of 03/23 to support the Form 8915-F

The TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions have a software update on 03/24 that supports Form 8915-F

Form 8915-F is available from the IRS but It is not available in turbo tax online. Why and when will it be available?

I think what happens is, turbo tax bangs out the program well in advance of tax season to be ready for it. Then, the form (in this case 8915-f)  is not programmed into turbotax's pre-made program. So when it becomes available to them, they then have to edit the program to fit this form. Probably requires a huge undertaking because the program is pretty complex. Not making excuses for them, I am furious as well.

Form 8915-F is available from the IRS but It is not available in turbo tax online. Why and when will it be available?

If you search in Google "when will form 8915-f be available to turbotax?" It says "the date has been moved to 3/31/22 for turbotax users). I got an email from turbotax 3/24/22 stating that the form was available. When I went through the prompts, there was no caronavirus in the selected disaster Dropbox and I was never offered form 8915-f. After speaking with a turbotax rep, they said "sorry, it must still not be available. Maybe another form was released and someone made a mistake"

I will however, tell you what another turbotax rep suggested. They said "well, you can always do your taxes without the form. Divide your carona relief disbursement by 3 put that as the taxable amount on your 1099-R and then when form 8915-f becomes available, just amend your taxes"

Is this going to happen next year also?  I have been waiting for a month for this form.  It first said 3-7-22 is when it would be ready, now it is the 31st!  You are gaining a lot of unhappy customers with this issue.

Go to this TurboTax website for IRS Forms availability - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_fed_online_individual.html

It was made available for the online editions in the early evening of 03/23/2022 and a software update for the desktop CD/Download editions on 03/24/2022

Form 8915-F, Qualified Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions and Repayment is Available for both printing and e-filing.

Many TurboTax users have already completed the Form 8915-F and e-filed their 2021 tax returns with the form included.

Ok Turbo tax...here is what I find aggravating.  I am just about ready to can this and go to a tax preparer.

You have FINALLY updated the software.  But yet even though I filed last year with Turbo tax (which was also a nightmare) - it makes me jump back and look up numbers that are in my tax file that i imported...(this is what the program should do)

Secondly the program then says need to visit Retirement section and go thru that again.  Ok fine....but that section the first question is DID YOU RECEIVE ANY RETIREMENT INCOME IN 2021:  No, I didn't - I received it in 2020...this needs to be fixed.  Sloppy as hell.

I think this will be the end of 15+ years annual use of turbo tax.  Your product no longer is worth it.

Were you able to EFile after you filled out the 8915E form.

Why doesn't this form automatically load? It is available from the IRS but online says I have to wait to file.  How do I access online? This is crazy. About to lose a longtime customer!

I was getting the same message.  I went back and reviewed everything from the beginning, and when you get to the part about taking a disaster distribution, it now takes you through the questions for form 8915-F and will adjust your tax owed/refund.  It will not take you to it automatically when it shows an issue.  Hope that makes sense.

I waited patiently for the Form 8915-F update, but I finally got frustrated and went elsewhere. I have a printed copy of last year's return prepared by TurboTax, so I was able to manually enter the requested figures where the online software prompted me to do so. But for some reason, my calculated refund didn't change even when I tried two alternatives: (1) not repaying 1/3 of my loan amount and paying tax on the additional income, and (2) repaying 1/3 of my loan amount and not taking a tax hit. I knew that the only way I could legally get the calculated refund is if I make a repayment to my IRA before the April deadline, but somehow the TurboTax software let me get through the entire federal review with my refund intact, even after I entered "0" for the amount repaid to the IRA.

I went to FreeTaxUSA, followed the same prompts with the same figures. Lo and behold, the software showed a lower refund if I didn't make an IRA repayment, and a higher one if I did -- just as it should be. I went ahead and filed with FreeTaxUSA. I won't be going back to TurboTax, which could have been an audit waiting to happen.

TT makes things unreasonably difficult--there's nothing intuitive about the program or form 8915-f. TT just lost another long-standing customer.
