Form 7206 (not done)

How do you find the form? It just keeps telling me “form will be available 2/7/24”

where am I supposed to actually go to fill this out???

With TurboTax you won't access/edit the actual form. You answer questions and fill out items that they then put into all the relevant actual forms that get sent to the IRS. So what we were waiting for was for TT to integrate the form into their systems. They sent an email out today saying they did and its ready but when I login it still says its not yet available. Once it is, you will be able to simply finish your TurboTax like normal and it won't give the warning about not having 7206 yet. Hopefully they get resolved soon.

Lol now instead of saying it’ll be done on 2/7, it says “ready soon.” That’s one way to get around setting an available date😂🙄

The Form is still not available... It changed from 2/7 now to ready soon - whatever that means... :(

You can check for forms availability here: tax form availability tool.

If you are not able to print a form, it’s because the form isn’t ready to be filed yet. 

The form isn’t ready for one of the following reasons:

• The IRS (for federal returns) or your state (for state returns) is still working on finalizing the form.
• The IRS (for federal returns) or your state (for state returns) recently finalized the form, and we're working on adding the form to TurboTax.

You can sign up within TurboTax to be notified when your form is ready. When you try to print a form that's not available yet, you'll get a message with the option to sign up.

Check back for updates and make you sure you run any updates when you open your TurboTax program.

Very frustrating indeed.

I am thinking one of two possibilities:

1) The email sent out earlier today stating that the forms were ready were sent automatically based on the previously set date of 02/07/2024, but the forms are not ready. Now instead of a promised date, we get 'Ready Soon' so as to not upset the masses further.

2) The emails went out prematurely and the database will be updated later tonight or after midnight.

Obviously, I am hoping for the latter.

It appears that form 7206 is to be updated tomorrow sometime.  I would suggest waiting until Friday to give it another try as the updates may take place overnight tomorrow night.

Well look at that, I was able to file my taxes! Check your account, 7206 should be available (at least it was for me).

9 pm ET February 7th, 2024 still waiting....any update when this form will be finalized in TT?

The online version updated on 01/31 and the desktop program should update tonight.

The forms availability has been updated to reflect tomorrow.   The program will be updated overnight.   @justwanttofilemytaxes

I also was just able to complete my return. So for some of us, the 7206 is finally in! To the rest of you, I would continue to try throughout the night.

Update, as of 10:30pm est I was able to use the iOS app to file my return. Did all the work on pc then signed into the app and filled

I tried deleting Form 7206 too, but it's immediately reinstated.  Puzzling why it prevents e-filing since it's not a form that actually gets filed with the return.  And now (2/7/24) it's no longer on the list of forms to be released.  Perplexing for now.  Hoping for resolution.  I do NOT want to file a paper return.

The "old" form 7206 in TTax says it doesn't get filed with the return.  The IRS website has a different (and new for 2023) Form 7206 in PDF form.  Apparently it's not found its way into TTax yet.  Nor does it appear on the most recent list of new/updated form availability.  Sure hope this gets fixed soon so users CAN e-file ASAP.
