Form 1116 AMT not populated

Turbotax is supposed to automatically populate Form 1116 AMT based on numbers in regular Form 1116.  This is how it has always worked in past years.  However, this is not working for me this year: Turbotax is leaving Part I of Form 1116 AMT blank (all three copies) even though all three copies of regular 1116 are filled out.  Is there a button to push or setting to get this auto-filled?  I don't know how to populate it manually because the worksheet does not ask the relevant questions.  (The worksheet asks only about adjustments.) This is making a big difference in my taxes because, since the FTC for AMT is coming out wrong, my AMT is coming out big (should be 0).

I discovered that this problem was caused by clicking a button to elect for simplified AMTFTC.  I did not understand the purpose of that button, and I should have instead elected for the complex AMTFTC.  Switching to complex AMTFTC brought back all copies of Form 1116 AMT.
