Foreign Tax Credit

Issues with Form 1116, Foreign Tax Credit:

1.  Why does TT create multiple copies of 1116?  Doing so prevents filing online so I'd like to consolidate all foreign taxes on one 1116. 

2.  I printed all the paperwork on 1116, Copy  1 and Copy 2, and Alt Min Tax, Copy 1 and Copy 2. 

     - On the regular 1116 and Alt Min Tax:  It did not preview or print Page 2 on Copy 2. 

     - On the Foreign Tax Credit Computation Worksheet:  It did not preview or print Page 2 on regular 1116 Copy 1 and Copy 2. 

     - It did preview or print Page 2 on Alt Min Tax Copy 1. 

I can't determine what should or should not be previewed/printed, but it is clear something is amiss with this aspect of 1116.  More importantly, it's difficult to figure out how to consolidate into one Copy of 1116 if I can't see all the information properly.

3.  Do you have any suggestions of how to avoid TT creating multiple copies of 1116?  What conditions cause TT to assign some foreign tax to more than one copy?  I noticed Copy 2 of the regular 1116, Part I, it shows "RIC" as the Foreign Country or US Possession; Copy 1 does not have RIC, nor does it have the 3a-3g information that is on Copy 2.

multiple 1116's should not prevent e file.  each source go into its own column on the form if you have more than 3 there will  be multiple 1116's.   .       you can also have multiple 1116's if one  type is passive, another general, etc. As a matter of fact there are 7 types of foreign tax categories and each type needs its own 1116.   

all FTC's comps are consolidated onto page 2 of the first 1116

TT does have an issue certain lines need a number that TT does not fill in automatically  - it may be an allocated expense statement  - just enter - none
