Foreign Tax Credit

2025 Desktop Is worthless and so is TurboTax help. They have a glitch that will not allow the credit for Foreign tax paid to Canada to count on my return. This is not the first time for problems. Several years ago I could not get the tax credit for new A/C condenser or New Furnace because turbo would not accept the expense and it is impossible to get a human without shelling out more $$ for an "expert". I am DONE with their Bullxxit!!!

If the income credit is over $300/$600MFJ, then Form 1116 must be filled in. If you have a legal liability to the US on the income, it was paid in 2025, is actual income tax, then you are allowed to claim the credit.

In addition, the credit is limited to the lesser of actual foreign tax paid or the US tax liability on the foreign income.

You may want to review your 1116 entries to be sure that you selected credit instead of itemized deduction. If you chose deduction, it would be on your Sch A.

Amy C, Thank you for trying to help. I did not need or use Form1116 because the amount is less than $300. All the standard tips are not working due to a glitch. I tried to request a refund but one has to connect two objects with a dotted line. I have NO CLUE- For God's sake I am 79! Turbo has TOO MANY hurdles for anyone to do a **bleep** thing. I quit. I am filing with no credit for Foreign Taxes and the same as I did when I never got my $500 credit for replacing either my furnace or A/C condenser with Turbo Tax several years ago.
