Foreign address in W-2 and "we are missing your state and zip code"

Hello, also to @monrob and @TCARLSON333!

I am a former Californian living in Italy facing the same very annoying issue. In past years, since moving here, I have used H&R Block but they are too expensive for me this year (yay COVID!).

My Italian husband is a non-resident alien with no SSN: on another Intuit "Help" forum like this, someone advised to enter 99-89-9999 for his SSN just to push the form through, and then use white-out to write NRA on the return.

I used @LivinginRockies ' very clever and hard-won solution to put a temporary California address to get to the filing stage, thank you for sharing!!

So here are my remaining questions:

* Do I still need to manually file?

*  I don't see my husband's fake SSN on the return to correct--anyone know where it might be? I'm missing it.

*  If I do file manually, should I also white-out my temporary California address that I needed in order to get the return finished, and add my current Italian address? This is the one that H&R Block put on my return in years past and I'd like to keep it, just in case we get another stimulus check.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone can get back to me!

@KarenJ2  and @RobertG I see you guys are Experts 🙂 I'd love to hear what you think too.

Grazie tanto everyone--Hope you are all well and safe where you are.

You still need to print and file your return.

If you filed Married Filing Separately your spouse SSN will be at the top of the 1040 under your Filing Status.

Yes, you should change the address.

I had this problem and found a way to fix it.  I had to DELETE the W-2 forms that I had automatically imported and enter the information manually.
