Filing multiple returns - can I downgrade 1 to free for state?

I use TurboTax Premier which comes with one state (and can do multiple federal returns).  I file for myself in CA and my daughter in MI.  Her return is simple and qualifies for free filing but since I have Premiere and can import her information it is simple for me to do for her.

My question is - since her return is simple enough to qualify for free filing, is there a way I can do the Federal return for her in my download version (which I have already done) and then export/import her data into the free online filing system for the MI state return?

I'd rather not spend the extra $45 for another state return for a simple filing.

Thanks.

No that will not work.  Why can't you use the Free Edition for both Federal and State?  Or the Free File Website?

Turbo Tax Free File website is free for federal and state. And has more forms than the Federal Free Edition, like the full 1040 return and Schedules A, B, C , D, E, F, EIC, H, K-1, SE, etc.

To qualify for the Tax Freedom website you just need to meet one of these 3 things
AGI $36,000 or less
Active duty military with AGI of $69,000 or less
OR qualify for EIC (earned income credit.)

In order to use the Turbo Tax Free File, you have to start it at a special website. If you use the Sign In button on the top right I hear it brings over your work.

Thanks for the reply.

yes, I believe I could have done hers in TT Free Edition.  It was just that I need Premium for myself and started hers in my downloaded Premium edition since I was already in it and am very familiar with it (and have a personal issue with storing all my tax data online).

So I was really just being lazy and didn't want to start over in the online Free Edition since her W2 and 1099-Div are not uploadable. I didn't want to enter the data again.
