Filing Federal Separate - Also required in Minnesota?

My wife and I file separately to qualify her for a federal loan forgiveness program.  Our kids and medical expenses are claimed on her side.  Does the state of Minnesota require you to file separately also or could we file jointly?

Minnesota requires that you use the same filing status on your state return that you’re using on your federal 1040. (Which appears to be unfortunate in your case, but hopefully it turns out to be a married-filing-separately pleasant surprise...) @hassmandewhere’s the word on this from the Department of Revenue.
