If my wife and I only have 27,000 in social security income plus 1,400 in interest, do we need to file?

If that is the only income you have then you do not have to file. No IRA distributions?

Were there any tax withholdings - only way to get them back is to file

What about any state filing requirements on the interest income?

Otherwise , agree, no need to file
