Filing a prior year tax

I had filed extension for a prior year but did not file even after the extension date. What would the federal and MA-state fines and penalties be, if I file now?

P.S. I think I owe little to zero taxes for that year.

Filing a prior year tax

There is no way to know what the penalties or interest on the unpaid taxes will be until you have paid the taxes owed.  The IRS and State will send a bill in the mail for any penalties and interest owed after they receive the payment.

See this IRS website for penalties and interest - https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/understanding-penalties-and-interest

There are no penalties or interest if the tax return is being filed with a tax refund or no taxes owed.
