Filed 2024 Form 1040X. Received IRS notification about mismatch column A ....

I am using 2024 Turbotax (TT) Home and Business for filing my returns. A few months ago, I use TT to file my 2024 amended tax return, using my original 2024 TT file.

A few weeks ago, I received an IRS notice that "the column A of your amended return did not match our records". I checked Form 1040X, generated by TT and submitted to IRA.

Found that the original AGI and itemized deductions  amounts in Form 1040X  are different from the original Form 1040 filed.

Also Form 8962 Premium Tax Credit entries on amended Form1040X forms are different from the original returns. I did not make any change on this and so the changes are unexpected.

Seems these are turbotax errors. Can someone from Turbotax pls advise?

I have bought the Tax Defense. Should I contact them?

Filed 2024 Form 1040X. Received IRS notification about mismatch column A ....

If you opened your return after filing and changed even one small number (perhaps to "see what would happen" or to test a deduction) before clicking the "Amend" button, TurboTax now thinks that "changed" version is your original. When you then start the amendment, it pulls those "in-progress" numbers into Column A.

If you are certain you didn't touch the file before amending, it's possible there were software updates after the time you filed and before you amended. The new calculation (especially for complex credits like the Premium Tax Credit) might retroactively apply to your "Original" column, causing a mismatch with what you actually e-filed months ago.

To fix this, go into Forms Mode, open the 1040X Worksheet, and manually correct the figures in Column A to match your original 'as-filed' return. This ensures the software calculates the 'Change' (Column B) correctly based on the 'Correct Amount' (Column C)."

Since you received a letter from the IRS, they may have made the updates for you and are not requiring you to file a corrected amendment. Read the letter carefully for how they want you to proceed.
