file two separate persons tax returns from same laptop

I used turbo tax premier to file my taxes on my laptop to file my taxes. Now i want to file taxes for my son using turbo tax deluxe from same laptop. I purchased deluxe version from Amazon. During installation of deluxe i got error message to remove existing version of turbo tax. I uninstalled, downloaed and installed turbo tax deluxe but i'm not getting prompt to enter new product key for deluxe version. Installation is coming up as  Premier without prompting for new product key even after reinstall. How can i file separate tax return from same laptop with deluxe version.

Why are you going through all of that?   You only need one version of the desktop download.  With that download you can prepare and e-file up to five federal returns and the corresponding state returns that go with them.  It is unnecessary to download two versions---you cannot put two versions of 2024 desktop software on the same computer.  Only one is needed.   Every version of desktop software has all of the forms and all of the schedules.    You could just use the Premier software you started with and do all of the returns using that software.   Seek a refund for the second download instead of wasting money on it.

To use your Premier software for your son's return, launch the program from your own hard drive, go up to the word "File" on the top of your computer screen, and click it---you get a drop down that lets you choose New Tax Return----that is how to start your second return using that same software.   You can do that for five returns if you have other family members----and more if you file the others by mail.
