When I efiled our income tax return both of our 5-diget ID PINs were filled in, obviously from the prior year's income tax return prepared by TurboTax. The efiling was rejected due to the above-mentioned error. I logged into my account with the IRS and discovered I now have a 6-diget ID PIN. That surprised me because although I actually had tried to get a 6-diget ID PIN from the IRS several weeks ago, it looked like the process didn't work, so I abandoned the effort. Obviously the process DID work and now have a 6-diget ID PIN.
The problem here is that TurboTax WON'T ACCEPT THE 6-DIGET ID PIN, claiming I'm entering too many digits. The program simply won't accept a 6-diget ID PIN, which I find surprising.
So the question here is "how do I proceed?" Am I now doomed to filing by mail forever more, or is there some trick to getting TurboTax to accepting a VALID 6-diget ID PIN?
Thanks

Have you tried this yet?
Follow these instructions to enter your Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IP PIN) or to remove an IP PIN that you accidentally entered.
An IP PIN and a Self-Select PIN are two different things.

Thanks! I had actually found the answer that you referred to moments before I saw the e-mail saying there was an answer to my question, but I certainly appreciate your prompt (and I believe, correct) response.
I did get my new-to-me 6 digit ID PIN entered into the program so I'll wait for my most recent rejection (changed both spouses 5-digit TT(?) PINs just to see if that'll work) and try again. I think and hope that problem is licked.
