Fed Tax not accepted

Helping my son with his 2019 Fed Return. The return will not be accepted (wrong AGI) because his 2018 return has not been looked at by IRS yet. He sent it about 6/7 weeks ago, but with the Covid-19 crisis I m sure they do not have many people looking at paper returns.    I read if you did not do a 2018 return you could put 0 (zero) in the AGI for 2018. I did that and it was also rejected.  Does he need to just wait until his 2018 has been looked at/accepted by the IRS?

Sorry, waiting will not resolve the issue with the 2018 AGI.  Since the 2018 return was just recently filed, the IRS is not going to have the AGI entered into their database at any time soon.  If you have already tried entering a 0 (zero) for the 2018 AGI then your only other option is to print and mail the 2019 tax return.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for printing a tax return for mailing - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/printing/help/how-do-i-print-and-mail-my-return-in-turbotax-online...

Print, sign, date and mail the tax return to the IRS.  Include with the mailed return any forms W-2 and 1099 which have taxes withheld.

    DoninGA,

Thank you for the quick response to my question. Good news, It was finally accepted. The problem was that we only changed my sons 2018 AGI to zero, not his wife's.  After both were corrected to Zero, it was accepted.

    Thanks again for your help.
