We received this error message hours after extension was filed, Taxpayer TIN in the Return Header must not be the same as a TIN of a previously accepted electronic return for the return type and tax period indicated in the tax return. Unfortunately, the rejection happened after midnight last night so we woke up to this surprise. This is a joint return and when the primary person on the joint return checked their IRS account this morning it states You have an extension to file for 2024. When I checked my account after they checked, it states that an extension has not been filed. Is this normal or should it state that an extension has been filed for both parties on joint account.
