Hi.
I purchased an EV car on July 2024, the dealership did not give me the form 15400 Clean Vehicle Seller Report, and the car met all the requirements to get a $7,500 tax credit.
The dealership says they will not give it to me since the purchase was done, and they also told me that I need to contact the seller because he does not work there anymore. After filing my taxes I knew that by law they needed to give me that form.
What should I do?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You should discuss this with the dealer. If you transferred the credit to the dealer at the time of sale (for example to reduce the vehicle cost), you will not be able to take the $7,500 tax credit.
If you are unsure whether your credit was transferred to the dealer, you should call the dealership and ask if the credit was transferred to them. You can also review your purchase paperwork to determine if the credit was transferred to the dealer.
