Error message in Turbotax 2024 on 1099-R for inherited IRA RMD. I took appropriate RMD. Did all I know how to do.... Help appreciated.
I am not 73
Entered 1099-R in 2024 online Turbotax based on money inherited from my mothers IRA, Distribution Code 4-Death. I enter this info every year of the RMD taken and also the takes I take out for state and fed. I never add money to this acct. It is not a total distribution but what I should take out-the RMD as calculated. My mother was born before 1951 and died in 2007. I am 66 years old.
This year in 2024 online Turbotax, I am constantly getting an "error needs review" message for this 1099-R. It asks : Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2024. I say "no" but not sure why it asks this. I did indeed take the RMD as estimated online and verified by Fidelity for 2024 and that was $2,335.5, I took out $2336 in January 2024. So regardless in TT even as of today I always am getting a message about reviewing this form ans it also asks if any of this money was for a disaster contribution -- I say no. I deleted the 1099-R for my mothers RMD that I received and entered a new one from scratch and error still persists. Does not matter seemingly what I check or uncheck on the 1099-R for Box 2B or if IRA/Simple SEP is checked. This is not a Roth. Bug in program?? Thank you.

When you enter your 1099-R for your inherited IRA distribution, say 'Yes' this distribution is RMD, and 'All of this distribution is RMD'.
If you did that, and are using TurboTax Online, you can delete Form 8915 (Disaster Distribution) from your return. Click this link for instructions on How to Delete Forms in TurboTax Online.
Then, close the program, clear your Cache and Cookies and re-open.

I am having same problem. It keeps telling me to review my husbands investment income! All numbers are correct. The amount taken out is higher than his RMD I put in there. I don't know what to do!!!
