This is on the IRS Known Issues Report. There is a workaround provided for this issue. If you enter ""TMXXX99XXXXX" on Line 2a, this will allow you to e-file.
I had the same problem and the code provided resolved it. Thanks -- but please have the programmers fix this on the form itself. It ate up much too much of my time before I found this.
This worked for me.
Thx!!!!
@Vincam Did your doubling issue from 3468 get resolved and were you able to efile? I am still getting emails from Turbo Tax saying they are working on the issue, but it seems to be resolved to me and I'd like to efile this week if possible. Thanks!
Yes, it appears the problem has been solved. I recieved a message saying so last week. Sure enough, I installed the latest updates, and my form 3800 now has the correct number. I didn't have to redo form 3468, it corrected itself. I have not yet tried efiling, but expect it will go smoothly with that correction as well as the IRS-suggested fix for putting in the dummy registration number that has been discussed in this thread. Fingers crossed!
Yes, I put in the dummy registration number and TT seems to think I am set to go.
Glad I found this thread and all your questions mirrored mine so you have been a great help. Thanks!
Yes it did. I deleted form 3468 and filled it out again since I had done an override to make it go before. I wasn't sure if the update would remove the overrides so I just deleted it and entered the information again and it worked along with the registration dummy number. I was able to efile and it was accepted so all good now.
