Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit

The TurboTax version for 2023, and which is available now, appears to wrongly calculate the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit.  It does not appear to correctly apply the following credit:

  • 2023 through 2032: 30%, up to a maximum of $1,200 (heat pumps, biomass stoves and boilers have a separate annual credit limit of $2,000), no lifetime limit.

I installed both an electric heat pump and new insulation and the credit calculated was much less than what would be available by applying the above formula.

Am I missing something or is this a matter that the TurboTax 2023 version has not yet been updated to reflect this regulation?

You're probably going to need to wait for a new release (update). Some components of the program are not yet complete.

Form 5695, Residential Energy Credits for tax year 2023 is scheduled to be available in TurboTax on 01/10/2024.
