End of year pay stub YTD tax deductions do not match W-2.

I have already e-filed for 2015 but just realized that my final leave and earnings statement for the year shows a much larger amount of taxes deducted for the year than my W-2 shows. Is there a reason for this?

Sadly this is why filing with your last pay stub is never recommended and the IRS even requires you to wait for the W-2 ... the numbers rarely match up since there are some items listed that are pre taxed which will lower the gross earnings.

Once a tax returned has been filed, you cannot make changes. If you have realized that you have made a mistake (example: forgotten to report a W2), your job now is to wait to see if the IRS accepts it.

·       If the IRS accepts your current year tax return, you will want to submit an amended 2015 tax return to correct the tax return.

·       If the IRS rejects your current year tax return, you will have the opportunity to fix the mistake using TurboTax and then e-file the corrected version.

To check the status of your tax return, use the "Where's my Refund" tool provided by the IRS in the following link.https://www.irs.gov/Refunds

Important:  TurboTax can help you file your amendment. To learn more about amending your tax return, please review the information in the following link. https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1908543-do-i-need-to-amend-my-tax-return

I apologize for the confusion, but I e-filed using my W-2 and it was accepted. I am wondering why I would be getting more taxes deducted that show on my pay stubs but then show as less on my W-2? I am active duty military so I have BAS and BAH that are non taxable and input into a traditional TSP. Could it be that I am being taxed on these non-taxable items and it does not show on the w-2 due to it showing adjusted gross income of only base pay?

If you have questions on your paycheck then direct them to DFAS for an explanation of benefits.
