Employer overpayment, repayment, & W-2

In 2022, my employer incorrectly overpaid myself, as well as half my coworkers. I was overpaid by over $2500, and paid it back.

Now,  since I had to pay it back, within the same year, should that excess $2500 be included on my W2 as taxable income?

It was included, and it's effecting my tax return.

Any suggestions on what to do? Is there anything I can do?

No. The $2,500 you paid back should not be included on your W-2 if the repayment was made in the same year.

Ask your employer if they will issue you a corrected W-2.
