Editing information in forms view

Hello,

I have been trying for hours to find the place in Easy view where I enter estimated tax paid with EXTENSION (not quarterly estimates). I have followed advice in this Community. At this point I simply want to edit in forms view to include this information. How do you get the program to “let” you enter information directly to the form?

Thanks

Online TurboTax does not have "Forms" view--that is only a feature of the desktop software.  Your post does not say whether you are using online or desktop.

For online:

When you requested your extension you were supposed to pay your estimated tax due.  Did you enter the payment you made into your tax return?  Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Other Income Taxes  This will show up on line 17 of your Form 1040

IF you are using desktop you click on Easy Step and it will switch to Forms mode.

If you are using the Desktop program on Mac, click on Forms in the upper left (upper right on Windows)

Or,

You can type estimates paid in the search box at the top of your return and click Find and it will give you a link to Jump To the screen where you enter Extension Payments.

To enter the amount you paid with an extension (including state extension) go to

Federal Taxes (or Personal for desktop H&B version)

Deductions and Credits

Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

Other Income Taxes - Click the Start or Update button

Next page second section Payments with Extension

Either Visit All or Click Start or Update by the extension you paid
