Earned Income Credit

Hello,

I filled out the Earned Income Credit portion in Turbo Tax but would like to delete it because I do not want to use this credit anymore. I cannot figure out how to delete it without having to delete my entire tax return and start over. Can anyone help?

You can delete the Earned Income Credit form (Schedule EIC) from your return - but why do you want to delete it?   If you qualify for the Earned Income Credit (known as the EIC or EITC), you can receive hundreds or thousands of dollars in credits that reduce how much, dollar for dollar, you’ll pay in taxes. If the credit eliminates your tax bill completely and there's some of the credit left over, you may get that extra money back in a refund. 

To delete forms in TurboTax:

Online:

1. Open your return in TurboTax. (To do this, sign in to TurboTax, and select the Take me to my return button.)
2. In the left sidebar, select Tax Tools> Tools.
3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
4. Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet and follow the onscreen instructions.

Windows Instructions
 

1. Switch to Forms mode.
2. In the left pane, select the form you want to remove.
3. After the form is generated in the right pane, click the Delete Form button at the bottom of the window.
4. Follow any on-screen instructions to remove the form or forms.

Mac Instructions

1. Switch to Forms mode.
2. In the left pane, select the form you want to remove (if you don't see it, click Open Form at the top).
3. From the Forms menu, select Remove [form name].
4. Follow any on-screen instructions to remove the form or forms.
