E-filed my fed return but not state. Paid for state return (says when I exit TT but keep getting error when trying that SS# already used. How efile my state return?

i efiled the fed, got turbo tax accepted notice. every says i efiled in turbo tax until i try to efile state. there's a disconnect within turbotax. 1 part says fed is accepted ,congrats etc, the other says i haven't efiled fed yet and won't let me efile state. long time user of turbo tax. was ready to simply efile NY in 3 minutes time but now i'm searching for help for hours.
