The PATH Act is one reason that you might see code 570 on your tax transcript. In general, code 570 means that your refund is on hold and the IRS has to take additional action before processing the return. This could also be an identity verification.

I verified last year and did not have an IP pin set up. This year I set up an IP pin and put it on my tax return when I filed so It shouldn't be that I have to verify? Could it be because I claimed the Eitc and ctc that I am seeing that code 570 until the Path lifts? No code 971 below code 570 either. The IP pin is supposed to be to protect my identity.
Yes, code 570 means there is a generic code for delay in processing. If you are claiming the EITC and CTC, then you should see the code gone once PATH lifts.
But what if there is code 971 after 570? I filed way early this year and out of nowhere i get codes 570 and 971. Any thoughts?
Code 971 indicates that a notice has been issued.
