Millions use it successfully every year without issue ... what is your situation ?
I believe that I do. I made an entry error and somehow my withholding was doubled, but I can’t clear the online return because I’ve already paid for it. Haven’t filed, just paid for it. The reason they give is that the need to store the data, but I find it abhorrent that I can’t redo it because I’ve paid for it. I’m completely unsatisfied with the product but apparently have no recourse other than to pay them more money. Terrible business practice and they won’t get a cent from me ever again.
YES. I do. I have used Turbotax for several years but this is the last. The B@#&%'s made the software so that now you cannot simply save your return to pdf and print it out to mail. The buttons on the interface do nothing or send a text file that is gibberish. I now HATE those B...
YESSSSS NEVER AGAIN NEVER
I do. How else can feel about a company that just made me feel completely violated, raped for money.
I can't imagine that you hate it more than I do. And I used it for years in the past and came back. But it's become a total mess from start to finish. I've spent HOURS with different "customer service" people. Just an indication of how f---ed up TurboTax is. You call customer service (after horrible automatic system), and they want to see my screen to understand my problem. Fine. They tried 3 different ways before finding one that worked. The "regular" way didn't work and then they had me download several different Intuit programs before we found one that worked. That's just one "symptom" of how messed up TurboTax is.
Many other things, but here is a concrete one. It's almost impossible to see and save your return--what IRS will actually get--on your computer. It's as if they think they own it. I tried and it required me to PAY FIRST. So I paid and I still could not save the return. Then I must have filed too soon because once you file, you can't save the return until presumably the IRS accepts it. (We'll see whether I can get it then.) It's MY RETURN! It used to be you could save at any point. I guess they are afraid you'll file on your own without paying them.
I talked to customer reps (both one for the program and then transferred to one who knew more about taxes to see if TurboTax messed something up with taxes). In both cases I waited LARGE amounts of time while the rep tried to figure out what to do. Also lots of loud noises in the background (I guess working from home during the pandemic). One rep did solve one problem but after making me wait a long time said she would get back to me by phone. Well, I finally figured out the issue that she couldn't figure out.
I don't know what happened to the old and reliable TurboTax, the one that (for instance) would let you see the actual return as a link from wherever you are in the program (and then come back to the program).
I give a lot of positive reviews to products, but this is one of the worst and most frustrating experiences I have had, certainly the worst with a tax program (and I'm old and have been filing for many years).
The software itself is good, but the way it was designed is a nightmare. Asking you the same questions over and over again, not actually giving you the choices you want, e.g. the only options being "yes" or "later," with no option to say "This is wrong, this doesn't apply." Not enough options to go back and change things.
I certainly do. I have never once used this stupid software without severe technical issues. This year, it's refusing to efile my state taxes without charging me an extra $25 even though I have the deluxe edition, which is SUPPOSED to include a free state efile. Good luck getting that solved.
If you are using Turbo Tax Desktop, it includes one state download however the e-file fee is not included.
If you are using Turbo Tax Online, e-file is included however there is a separate fee for your state return. @Jpmarch1953
Why should taxes be this difficult? Why do we put up with a ridiculous tax system. No one else in the world puts up with this crap.
I hate them more.
I hate doing taxes but I wont do them with anything but TurboTax and I've been using it for 30 years. If the IRS (and congress) quit changing the rules they would not have to rewrite the program every year. Ive been using Quickbooks for 30 years as well.
