Do I upload my Consolidated 1099-B here? When I log in, "Pick Up Where You Left Off," go to "Other income" and go to "Stocks, Bonds, etc. (1099-B)?

Under "Review," add the broker's info and click "Continue."  Do I upload it here?  Will it prompt  me for it?  Can I  upload it in PDF format?

No, to upload a Consolidated 1099-B, whether you have already entered investment information or not, start by selecting Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other under the Investment Savings subject heading (TurboTax online).  If you are using TurboTax CD/download, then scroll down the screen to Investment Income and select Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds...

If you have already entered investments then select Add Investments (TurboTax online) or select Add More Sales (TurboTax CD/download).  On the screen Let's import your tax info (TurboTax online), enter the name of your brokerage firm or bank in the search bar.  If you see the name, select it, and you will be prompted to enter some information about your account and document ID.  In TurboTax CD/download, the process is very similar in that when you indicate you received a 1099-B, you will see a screen where you can import your 1099-B.

You won't be able to upload a pdf of your 1099-B.  If your firm has partnered with TurboTax, and many firms have, then TurboTax will access your information from your account and upload your 1099-B into the TurboTax application.  Make sure you allow third party access to your brokerage account, otherwise TurboTax will not be able to upload your 1099-B.

If uploading is not an option, then you can enter your transactions manually.  If you have sales identified on your 1099-B statement as Box A or Box D sales, and they don't include any adjustments to the gain/loss (e.g., a Disallowed Wash Sale amount), then you should simply enter a summary for these sales.  You'll only need to enter the total sales proceeds, total cost basis, and sales category.  In the section where you enter your stock transactions, TurboTax will ask you whether you want to enter a summary versus one at a time.

If there are transactions that require some adjustment, you can report those sales that require adjustments and then report the remaining transactions in summary fashion as described above.  In other words, you can combine both types of reporting on the same return.
