Do I need to sign mailed return

@sammynsara1027 If you e-file the return, your "signature" is electronic.  No physical signature will appear on the tax form.  If you are filing by mail, then the line where you sign for your federal return is on the bottom of page 2.   In bold black print it says "Sign here"   so you use a pen and sign it and date it there.  If it is a joint return both spouses must sign.

There are many state forms so we cannot tell you where to sign your state form--we do not know what state--but it should not be hard to find if you look over your state tax return form.

TurboTax will not know anything about your mailed return, and will continue to show “Ready to Mail” on your account.  TurboTax will not know that you put your tax return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox.  TurboTax does not get updates on mailed  (or e-filed) returns.

Wait about 4 weeks from when you mail a return and then you can check the status on the IRS site. https://www.irs.gov/refunds

State returns have to be mailed to the state.

If you mail a tax return (or a payment) to the IRS, it is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it like UPS or certified mail so you will know it was received.
