Florida has no personal income tax, so you do not have to file a Florida tax return. You do have to file your Minnesota tax return.
I live in Oregon. I won 1885 in calif. On a slot machine. Do i have to file a state return in calif
Based on your income of $1885 as a non-resident of California, you are not required to File a California State Tax return.
Please refer to California's minimum income tax filing requirement
Do I need to file a state return for gambling winnings from another state?
@sj2445 It depends on what state you live in, what state the gambling winnings are from, how much you won, and possibly what type of gambling it was. Every state has different rules. Start by checking the taxation web site for the state that the winnings are from, to see what the filing requirements are for a nonresident. If the state that you live in has income tax, you almost certainly have to report the winnings as income on your resident state tax return, whether or not you are required to file in the state that the winnings are from. If you have to report the income in both states, one state will give you credit for the tax that you pay to the other state. Exactly how that works depends on what the two states are.
Did you have to submit a non-resident state tax form for WVA or just submit your usual VA form? I am having a difficult time figuring this one out.
Thank you!
