Do I need to claim restitution checks as income?

Way back in 2010 my car was broken into and robbed in the college parking lot.  A few months later the guy was caught and ordered to pay restitution to me and several others that he had burglarized on that campus.  I think I finally got my first  check for a measly $17 in early 2016 and have been getting a check every month since for different amounts ranging from $15-$85.  I have not kept the receipts for those checks because I didn't even think about tax time until now.  I'd estimate I MAYBE received $250 last year in said restitution checks.  Do I need to claim this as income?  Will I get some kind of form from the courts?

Unless you claimed the theft deduction in 2010, this is not taxable income. You will not receive anything from the courts.
