Do I have to file gift tax return ( form 709)

Last year I signed $50k to my spouse. We do not have joint bank account. In additional we file tax separately. Do I need to file form 709?

No, you do not need to file a gift tax return.  There are several exceptions to the general rule that any gift is a taxable gift. One of the exceptions is gifts to your spouse.
