Do i have to claim a dependent

I have a daughter in college she is my dependent and I pay for her college education.  It does not seem to benefit me to claim her this year as my husband and I are married filing separately this year. I was thinking of not claiming her this year.

There is no rule that says you have to claim your dependents.  However, if you want to claim her college education expenses that you pay for, she will need to be listed as a dependent on your return.
