Do I apply for a health insurance penalty exemption?

Exemptions are available based on a number of circumstances, including certain hardships, some life events, health coverage or financial status, and membership in some groups. If you qualify for an exemption, you don't have to have health insurance or pay a fee for the months the exemption applies.
