Home & Business 2016 Tax Software Federal & State - why I have got this message "for just 44.99, we can finish your Pennsylvania tax in minutes."?

We purchased the TurboTax Home & Business 2016 Tax Software Federal & State + Fed Efile at the end of 2016, by paying for $84.65 (including tax).  We assume that it covers both federal and state tax, as the previous years.  However, when I finish the 2016 federal tax part, starting the state part, I got this message "for just 44.99, we can finish your Pennsylvania  tax in minutes."   I do not believe I need to pay another $44.99 in addition to $84.65 for just finish the state tax, which was not the case in last year and years before.  Please help!

Did you already download a different state program?  It thinks you already used your free state.  If you need to file in a second different state you need to buy another state at 44.99.

Yes I know.  With the Desktop installed program you get 1 free state program download to prepare unlimited state returns all in that state.  Did you already do a state return for another state (not Pennsylvania)?

if you already used the free state program you need to buy Pennsylvania.  If Pennsylvania is the only state return you are doing then try closing your return and closing Turbo Tax.  Make sure the CD is out of the drive and reboot your computer.  Then start Turbo Tax and update the program, go up to menu item Online - Check for updates.

To answer your final question, yes we did downloaded PA state tax part, but some questions are confusing.  With your help, we know for sure there is no extra charge for one state, we could finallly figure out the way.  Thanks again!

But wait,  you get the free state program BUT when you get to the end there is a 24.99 fee to efile each state return (including the first one) or you can print and mail the state for free
