I used the FREE version and filed for a paper check last January. It says: FEDERAL PRINTED READY FOR MAIL (here) Anyone know when I will get this paper check?

Did you actually print out and mail your tax return?  And federal and state go in separate envelopes to different places.  Did you get a tracking number from the post office?

Printed or Ready to Mail means you have to print out your return and mail it to the IRS yourself.  So it has not been filed yet.  How to change from Mail to Efile <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/5561257">https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/5561257</a>  Turbo Tax will always say Ready to Mail.  They don't know if or when you actually mailed it.  And the IRS doesn't tell Turbo Tax when they get a mailed return.

you can go to IRS website to check refund status.     I noticed that many posters have complained that even though they filed in January or early February they have gotten their refund.

if unsatisfied, you can contact IRS taxpayer's advocate office in your state but some have posted they've been as much help as a brick.
