I bought the 2018 CD version of TT Home and Business. I
prepared and e-filed my federal return and two state tax returns. Besides the cost of the CD ($64.99) I paid
$52.54 and $47.30 twice in the electronic filing process for a total of $212.13.
Was I overcharged? Wasn’t there supposed to be one free state tax return?

When you use desktop software you get five free federal e-files and the software program to prepare returns for one specific state of your choosing. if you need a second different state program it is $44.99 per state program. Each state return that you e-file incurs an e-file fee--which can be avoided if you print and mail the state instead. But if you e-filed them, each time you e-filed a state return by February 28 it was $19.99. Effective March 1 it was $24.99 per state e-file.
