This happens occasionally. And, when it does, Turbo Tax still operates sluggishly, but the task does not appear in the windows 10 task manager!?!? Only way to cure it is to close everything else and reboot. Sometimes this works. What is wrong with Turbo Tax? Is there a fix?

perhaps your problem is TSR (Terminate and stay resident) programs. TSR is a software program that remains in memory until it is needed, and then performs some function. An example of a TSR is an antivirus scanner, which must remain loaded in memory to help protect your computer from computer viruses. malware and junkware can also use up memory. with something like a virus scanner, rebooting wont help because it will be reloaded. Microsoft edge can also be loaded and stay resident.
when running task manager widen the fields to see memory usage
Fields are very wide including all columns. There is NO LINE ITEM for turbo tax! If the program were still resident as you suggest, would there not be a listing/line item in the task manager?
