What if someone mistakenly claims you as a dependent. Was eligible for unemployment in 2020, but had issues and was not approved until 2021. So I received support from a family member from 2020 and they claimed me on their taxes. Is it still possible for me to file and receive a tax refund?

Yes, you can file as a dependent and you may get a tax refund depending on your income.
If you agree that you were a dependent, go ahead and check the box in the Personal info section that says someone claimed me as a dependent.
This will affect your refund because you can't get any tax credits as a dependent, but you may still have a refund.
If you don't agree that you should have been claimed as a dependent, you can ask the person that claimed you to amend their tax return, so that you can file as a non-dependent.
If you do that, you will have to print and mail in your return because the IRS will not accept your tax return even after the amendment is processed.
