Do we still get full credit if child is born end of december?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You can claim a child who is born one minute before midnight on December 31 for the whole tax year. When you prepare a tax return to claim a newborn, you need to say that the child lived with you for the whole year so that you get all of the child-related credits that you are eligible for.
Watch for this screen ... READ the instructions ... do what it says ... (this screenshot says 2017 but the same goes for any tax year a child is born) ... failure to choose the WHOLE year as directed will mean you will not get the credits for the child ...
