Hello,
Do I as the parent or my daughter, who I claim as a dependent, need to report the 1098-T that includes tuition and scholarships? I paid the vast majority of the tuition, but I wanted to check since my daughter's name and social security number are on the 1098-T.
Since my daughter had a job over the summer, I am helping file her taxes, but I was already prompted by Turbotax to include the 1098-T on my taxes. Thanks! David

Yes. You would report the 1098-T on your return and claim the education credits for the 1098-T. A dependent cannot claim the education credits if they are claimed as a dependent.
She only needs to include the 1098-T on her return if the scholarship is more than her education expenses. If so, the scholarship becomes taxable income to HER on HER return.
If the box 1 amount exceeds the box 5 amount by less than $4000, reply back for additional advice.
