A low income senior does not required to file tax returns received stimulus sent by the IRS in 2020, can they still be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return?

Thank you.

No.    Dependents cannot receive stimulus checks ---or at this time --  the recovery rebate credit on a 2020 return.

But that was for 2020.   Are you asking if you can claim them on your 2023 return? Maybe.   Do they fit the criteria to be claimed?

IRS interview to help determine who can be claimed:

    Thanks for your reply.

Dependent had received stimulus checks automatically sent to their social security account.  Dependent never needed to filed federal tax returns.

I am helping someone who is catching up with 2020 tax return(due to missing records).  Can that someone still claim that dependent on the 2020 tax return?

    Thank you!
