I keep getting the message " Not connected to internet" I am. I have turned off all firewalls but still get same message. I have used Turbo Tax on CD for 25 years and never had a problem.
Amen! Why disrupt a product and service to the general public which is widely popular and in-use year to year. I'm lost without transferring my 2023 tax data from 2023 to 2024 return to zip through doing my taxes at home on via desktop using the CD. Reverse this piss-poor business decision or lose my business. I need to do my taxes very soon.....so produce the usual turbtax product with CD asap.
OK, that's the first I've read on the subject of discontinuing the CD. I can live with that although I liked the CD version better. Thanks for the update.
Exactly my position on the CD. Accuracy and convenience on the desktop is my perference. What I see on my PC is what I can control and depend on.
I very much prefer the CD. On older laptops the download times are extremely slow, and the CD is the best way to go.
@LSLATTEN Who were you responding to on your posts? The Download program is EXACTLY the same Desktop program as the CD. You buy it the same way directly from Turbo Tax or in stores like Costco. When you installed the CD you still had to go online to update it. It's only the method you use to install it. Even when I bought the CD I used the download method to install it. Don't confuse the Download with the Online web version. Your return is still only on your computer and controlled by you.
You can buy an install CD for 2024 for $10 after you buy the download and a License Code
https://turbotax.intuit.com/lp/ttd/4021
Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account when you first install it, all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac) you can download it again.

So many people keep confusing the issue of Intuit doing away with the CD.
You can STILL purchase the DESKTOP version, and you STILL GET the desktop version. You STILL GET the "Accuracy and convenience on the desktop is my perference. What I see on my PC is what I can control and depend on."
For MANY years, there has been a 100% false illusion that the full software existed on the CD. Instead, the CD has done nothing more than launch a downloader/updater.
For those complaining about slow downloads... If you are on 100Mbps or higher, you won't notice an issue downloading. If you are on a slower download, you are paying too much for your internet and need to look at other options.
TurboTax has been installing ALL of the program from DOWNLOAD for many years whether you bought a CD or not. The CD has had nothing more than a downloader launcher on it.
TurboTax is not a large program.
You are confusing the situation. The desktop version has NOT gone away. Everything you state you want to do has NOT gone away. Everything will work as it has in the past. TurboTax has installed itself using 100% download for years whether you purchased using a CD or download (do not confuse desktop and online versions). For many years the CD has contained nothing more than a dowloader launcher.
So Intuit should go back to flooding the landfills with millions and millions of unwanted and unused CD's because a few users find it difficult to do a download?
This is unacceptable. If Intuit is discontinuing their much loved AND appreciated CD software disk version (one and done purchase - not this pay extra $10 BS for a separate boot disk), then your customers deserve a nice price break from 2024 going forward. However, it appears, in Intuit's extreme lack of business wisdom, they're not only removing the CD's for their customers but ALSO raising their prices! This is seriously a bad business model. Let's see how many customers, especially 55 and older, put up with this nonsense. We all have a bottom line we're willing to accept, Intuit, you're about at your limits based on poor decisions in previous years.
TurboTax is NOT - NOT - NOT doing away with the desktop versy. PLEASE PLEASE read the threads.
Once again, time and again, we have clearly stated...
The CDs have done NOTHING MORE than launch a downloader app for MANY years. In other words, you have ALREADY been doing downloads of your favorite desktop app for MANY years.
Again, please listen carefully. The beloved desktop version has not gone away.
I KNOW. I have the 2024 version installed on my computer.
I do not understand why you have ANY difficulties importing using the DOWLOAD version. For MANY years, turboTax HAS BEEN the DOWNLOAD version. The CD has been NOTHING MORE than a launcher for the downloader. Furthermore, as an experiment, I have PERSONALLY reinstalled EVERY download back to 2016 a week ago. EVERY download installed successfully. EVERY download SUCCESSFULLY IMPORTED from the previous year.
So, once again, your issue has NOTHING to do with "download," because it HAS been "download" since 2016 .
Ok. Please share where you purchased your TT 2024 Deluxe version with CD disc in the package. Much appreciated! I don’t see this available at local retailers including Best Buy, Costco, Sam’s, etc. Thank you!
No one sells a CD. You can now buy an install CD directly from Turbo Tax for $10 after you buy the download and License Code for the version you want.
