My mother passed away in 2020. In 2022 I received a payment from a settlement for unpaid wages to her  estate. I received a 1099 misc form. How do enter this amount as income on my turbo tax filing. It was around  $4,000.

Thank you.

A $4,000 payment made to your mother's estate for unpaid wages is reportable on an estate income tax return, Form 1041, not directly on your personal income tax return.  The income to the estate would then be passed through to you on Schedules K-1 (Form 1041) to estate beneficiaries for reporting and taxing on the beneficiaries' personal tax returns.

The TurboTax product for preparing an estate tax return is TurboTax Business (not TurboTax Home & Business).
