The IRS does not publish specific refund cycle charts like it has in the past; however, 9 out of 10 taxpayers receive their refund within 21 days of their return being accepted.

Based on your acceptance date of 1/27, you should expect to receive your Direct Deposit no later than February 17, 2020.

It is not unusual to see no DDD with a 1/27/2020 acceptance, especially since it is still so early in the filing season. Depending on any credits you claimed, the return could take longer to process.

For example, I would expect that someone claiming the earned income credit will both have to wait longer for their DDD as well as their DDD being later because of the time it takes to process returns that claimed that credit.

Last year, the IRS said that even those returns accepted in January would not receive their refunds until the end of February if they claimed certain credits.

Hang in there! You can be confident your refund is on its way.

I was accepted on the 27th too and I don't have a DDD. However, I was looking at transactions in my checking account and my refund is pending for Feb. 5th.

Accepted 1/30. EITC and ACTC. No DDD, obviously. But thought I'd contribute. Two years prior it was around or on the 20th. Last year on 2/19, I was accepted on 2/8. 2018 accepted on 1/27, but basically same exact DDD

I was accepted about a week before the tax season started. Was just able to view my transcripts and account info. I have a cycle date of  20200505. I’m not sure what that means. And I got a date of 2/17/2020.

My return got accepted. What happens next?

Congratulations! Accepted means your e-file has passed inspection (such as Social Security numbers are correct and dependents haven't already been claimed) and the government has your tax return. Consider acceptance as your official government packing slip.

    Are you getting a refund?

After acceptance, the next step is for the government to review your refund.

During the review process, they look for math errors on your return (extremely rare in TurboTax) and check if you owe back taxes, unpaid child support, or other debts.

If they need to make any corrections, they may offset (reduce) your refund. In some cases, the correction might even increase your refund.

Once that part's done, the government approves your refund, which means it's ready to be deposited or sent.

It can take up to 21 calendar days after acceptance for the IRS to issue your refund, although most refunds go more quickly than that, while a small handful may take a bit longer.

Start tracking your federal refund at the IRS Where's My Refund site

For state refunds, go to your state government's refund lookup service.

What about if I got accepted in 1-21-2020 and both credits that fall under the path act

Anyone file on 01/28 and have not had their return approved yet? I didnt claim any credits. My employer did overpay $175 into Social Security Tax.

I have also moved this year. In 2016, I moved and they flagged my return for fraud. Could that be the case maybe again?

    Thanks!

    @Jr1991

    Directly from the IRS :

I claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) on my tax return. When can I expect my refund?

According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue EITC and ACTC refunds before mid-February. The IRS expects most EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards by the first week of March, if they chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return. Check Where’s My Refund for your personalized refund date.

Where’s My Refund? on IRS.gov and the IRS2Go mobile app remains the best way to check the status of a refund. WMR on IRS.gov and the IRS2Go app will be updated with projected deposit dates for most early EITC/ACTC refund filers by February 22.

So EITC /ACTC filers will not see an update to their refund status for several days after Feb. 15.
